Alita Abruzzese
An Afternoon on the Brandywine
Unframed $425

Alita Abruzzese
The Canal in Lewes, Delaware
18-1/4" x 14-1/4" unframed $450

ABRUZZESE, Alita

My artwork is most often representational, however my intention is not to copy what I see.My greatest inspiration is nature--especially water in any form and the way it reflects light as well as absorbs shadows.  Trees are also a favorite subject of mine. I try to capture the mood in each scene whether it is the tranquility of a path in the woods, the coolness of the forest, the soft beauty of a fresh snowfall, or the rhythmic sound of the waves as I record an ocean scene.  I work in many media—oils, acrylics, watercolor and pastel. Each has its own characteristics which lend themselves to the requirements of the painting.  I have a BS in art education from Kutztown University,a BS in math education from West Chester, and have taken graduate classes at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Bennington College in Vermont, Penn State University, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. I have worked under the tutelage of Joseph Sweeney in oils and pastels and Carol Goldman in watercolor. I taught art for 23 years in the Methacton School District in Pennsylvania.

Peter Ehlinger
To a Flame
Watercolor, Pen & Ink
16" x20"

EHLINGER, Peter

From Haddon Field, New Jersey, Peter works in watercolors, pen and ink and pastels. He has been exhibiting his work since 1960 with shows in Philadelphia, New Jersey and upstate New York. Peter describes his work as "heavy handed." His goal is to disguise his medium. His Asian-influenced work reflects a unique style of multiple washes and intricate design. Many of Peter’s works incorporate Oriental designs with rich textures and detail. His subjects include intricately flowered ginger jars, elaborately designed kimonas, classic figure studies and free form decorative abstracts.  Traditional and modern symbols are combined with bold colors, quite unlike the simplistic ancient originals which inspired them.  Unlike Asian masters, Peter’s works are complex and painstakingly executed.  There are no simple brushstrokes in his watercolors.
