Three free programs will be offered this summer: Kids Art Academy, an arts exploration class; Clay Academy, a ceramic arts program, and the new Asian Art, which will explore different Asian art traditions. All 3 programs are funded by the Greater Pottstown Foundation. They are for children ages 8-12. While preference is given to those students who qualify for free or reduced lunch, students who do not qualify are encouraged to apply. For more information and an application, please click here.
Stretch, Read, Create! classes are held at the Pottstown Regional Public Library. Parents and children who sign up for the free program will participate in a short yoga session, listen to a story and then create an art project based on the book. Children ages 3-5 are eligible to participate. Siblings who meet the age criteria are also welcome to attend, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
While the program is free, you must register for the class. Download a registration form here. Completed forms must be turned in at least one week before your session is scheduled to begin.
Classes will run from 10:30-11:30am every Friday from through August 17. PLEASE NOTE: There is no class Friday, July 6.
Gallery School Executive Director Erika Hornburg-Cooper conceived of the idea for the program and worked with local yoga instructor Barbara Kosciewicz of High St. Yoga and Wellness and Leslie Stillings of the Pottstown Regional Public Library to develop the concept. All three will work together to run each fun class.
Scholarships are now available for classes through the Gallery School's Healing Arts program, which provides free classes for cancer patients, survivors, family and caregivers. This program is funded by the Hill School Student Philanthropy Council. For more information on this great program, please click here. For an application, click here.
